Programs For Elementary Students
(Ages 6-12)

Come Sign with Me (1 hour)
What is American Sign Language?  What does it mean to be deaf?  Learn
the answers to these questions and more in this interactive introduction to
ASL and Deaf Culture.

The Great American Sign Language Mystery (1 hour)
Where did American Sign Language come from? Flex your fingers and
join in the hunt for clues as  sign language detective Kathy MacMillan
leads silly stories, songs, and more.  

Signs of Strength: A Black History Month Tribute (45 minutes)
Explore the hidden history of Black Deaf Americans, and learn some basic
American Sign Language in the process.  Join Kathy MacMillan for an eye-
opening and fun experience.

The SIGN-a-long Sing-a-long (45 minutes)
Teach your fingers how to sing as we explore American Sign Language
through music and stories! Bring the whole family for the hands-on fun as
signing (and singing) storyteller Kathy MacMillan teaches you to sign
some of your favorite songs.

The American Sign Language Express (1 hour)
Climb aboard!  We’ll explore the USA through signs, songs, stories, and
hands-on fun!  Signing storyteller Kathy MacMillan is your conductor on
this giggly, wiggly journey for the whole family.  

Color My World with Sign Language (45 minutes)
Red, yellow, green, and blue…have we got some fun for you!  Join signing
storyteller Kathy MacMillan for stories and songs that celebrate the many
colors of our world and introduce basic American Sign Language for the
whole family.

Flying Fingers of Fall (45 minutes)
Learn basic American Sign Language through tales of falling leaves,
squirrels, pumpkins and more!  Signing storyteller Kathy MacMillan leads
stories and songs that teach about communicating with our hands and
eyes.

How Do You Sign “Snow”?: Winter Signs (45 minutes)
Warm up those frigid fingers with stories, songs, and activities that
explore the snowy season with basic American Sign Language. Bundle up
and join signing storyteller Kathy MacMillan for the fun.

Once Upon a Sign (1 hour)
Come away to a land of kings and dragons, queens and castles, and learn
signs through stories and songs of magic.  Learn about Deaf Culture as we
visit the magical land of Eyeth, where we use our hands and eyes to
communicate. Bring the whole family (and your fairy godmother too) for
this magical hour of signs, stories, and fun!

Sign Language Down at the Zoo (45 minutes)
Learn signs for your favorite animals and more as we explore the zoo with
American Sign Language!  Introduce yourself to a monkey, make friends
with a tiger, and sign with a seal in this interactive journey, led by signing
storyteller Kathy MacMillan.

Sign Language Holiday Magic (1 hour)
Celebrate the season as Kathy MacMillan leads stories, signs, and songs
about winter holidays around the world.  We’ll also learn about Clerc-
Gallaudet Week, the first week of December, which celebrates two
pioneers in American Deaf education.  Warm up your fingers and get
ready to sign along in this interactive program.

Sign Language is Yummy! (1 hour)
From Goldilocks’ porridge to our favorite kinds of pizza, this silly signing
storytime has something for everyone’s taste!  Kathy MacMillan leads
signs, stories, and songs, and we’ll even learn about manners in Deaf
Culture.  

Sign Language Safari (1 hour)
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!  Go walkin’ through the jungle and
learn signs through stories, songs, and fun activities for the whole family.  
Kathy MacMillan is your guide on this silly signing adventure, where we’
ll learn some basic American Sign Language and how to behave in a
signing environment.

Signs of Spring (45 minutes)
Explore springtime with American Sign Language , from April showers to
May flowers and everything in between!  Signing storyteller Kathy
MacMillan leads stories, songs, and more as we learn about
communicating with our hands and eyes.

Summer Signs (45 minutes)
The sun is shining, the air is warm, and we’ve got a slew of summertime
stories and signs just for you!  Kathy MacMillan leads this interactive
program, where we’ll explore our favorite summer activities with basic
American Sign Language, and even learn about Deaf Culture.  Don’t
forget your sunscreen!
